On April 2nd 2003 Dorthe Dahl Jensen was contacted by Greenland Police,
Greenland Flight Center, Danish Polar Center and many more: High flying planes
had reported a emergency signal at a location close to NGRIP. A 'W' formed
on the ice with ligths!. This is an international signal for mechanical problems.
We were asked if the camp was manned...
First we carefully asked if it was a 1. April joke - but no. So the following
day a post plane flew low over the NGRIP camp and several beautiful pictures were taken. It turned
out that it was the main buildings that are ice covered and reflected the
light as the sun rose over Greenland.
From the pictures you can see that the put in team will need to bring shovels
with them!
